Honouring our ANZACs

On Anzac Day we commemorate those who have served or continue to serve our country. Lest we forget those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country and its allies.

Engaging our youngest Australians in honouring our Anzac history

In our latest commonkind community session we talked about the upcoming Anzac Day. We discussed the history of this important day and spoke about the brave heroes and helpers who have given their lives or health in service of Australia. We then focused our energy on making 61 Anzac Day cards for Legacy Brisbane to distribute to war widows. Legacy has a long history of providing incredibly valuable support to the partners and families of veterans. You can make a donation to help war widows and dependents through Legacy today, or any day of the year.

In a session earlier this week, commonkind partnered with Year 6 volunteers from a local primary school that has a beautiful edible garden that the school community has actively planted and nurtured over the years. We discussed the symbolism of rosemary for Anzac Day commemorations and the children took turns pruning the rosemary and creating individual sprigs of rosemary to raise money for Legacy Brisbane. Each sprig is as unique as the local child who lovingly made it and every hero that these sprigs honour.

We give thanks to all who have served or continue to serve in our armed forces. Thank you for your sacrifice in serving our country.
