Supporting the National Strategy for Volunteering

commonkind: an Official Supporter of the National Strategy for Volunteering

We are proud to announce we are a member of the Coalition of Support for the National Strategy for Volunteering to help make volunteering the heart of Australian communities. See the organisations that have join commonkind in committing to progress the national strategy here.

What is the National Strategy for Volunteering?

The National Strategy is a shared agenda for change. Co-created by stakeholders from across the volunteering ecosystem, the strategy is a ten-year roadmap (for the period 2023-2033), to enable volunteering in Australia to thrive. Learn more about the National Strategy here.

Why is the National Strategy for Volunteering important?

The vision of the National Strategy is:

Volunteering is the heart of Australian communities.
Where more people volunteer more often.
Where volunteers feel respected and know their contribution makes a difference.
Where volunteering is valued and properly considered in policy settings, service design, and strategic investment.
Where diversity in volunteering is recognised, celebrated, and supported.
Where people individually and collectively realise their potential to creating thriving communities.

As a Volunteer Involving Organisation (VIO) we are pleased to see the development of The National Strategy and the propoer recognition of the value and importance of volunteering in making Australia a better place for everyone.

At commonkind we know that volunteering is vital in developing more connected and more resilient communities and for us, that doesn’t just start at age 16 when young people are more likely to be accepted by charities and non-profit groups as volunteers.

We are hopeful that in time, the power of children and families will also receive due recognition as a powerful driver of societal change.

What is the Coalition of Support?

The Coalition of Support is a voluntary group of stakeholders and representative bodies within the Australian volunteering ecosystem that have signed up and are aligned with demonstrating their commitment to making volunteering the heart of Australian communities. See which organisations have signed up here.

The Coalition of Support recognises that we all have a part to play in ensuring that volunteering has a bright future in Australia.
