FY26 Annual Report

Presenting our FY26 Annual Report

With our Annual General Meeting wrapped up, we are delighted to present the FY26 Annual Report for commonkind! This past year was defined by dynamic action, meaningful connection, and the undeniable power of our youngest changemakers putting compassion into practice.

As a registered Public Benevolent Institution powered by an incredible network of volunteers, maintaining openness and trust with our community sits at the heart of everything we do. This report offers far more than a recap of milestones; it serves as a roadmap for our ongoing commitment to a kinder nation.

Milestones, Leadership & Consolidating Our Mission

Our AGM gave us a chance to honour an extraordinary period of growth – one where 1,271 volunteers (74% of whom were children and youth) dedicated nearly 3,000 service hours to support more than 4,100 Australians experiencing hardship.

Following her appointment after last year’s AGM, Nikki Accornero officially led her first meeting as Chair of our Board. Building upon a strong foundation, Nikki brought clear vision to a year focused on strategic discipline and sustainable impact.

Under the guidance of our Board – including Non-Executive Directors Adriana Hartcher, Sheree Bamkin, and Dani Townsend – commonkind refined its Theory of Change to prioritise purposeful consolidation. Rather than chasing rapid expansion, we are focused on strengthening our core Learn by Heart school program, expanding our Work of Heart corporate initiatives, and building a resilient operating model.

This AGM also marked a moment of profound gratitude and transition for our governance team. We extend our deepest thanks to Dani Townsend, who has served as a Director since our inception and is now retiring, as well as Sheree Bamkin for her dedicated service and invaluable contributions to our mission. At the same time, we are thrilled to welcome Adelle Yates to the Board, alongside Tiffany Grundy and Susan Knight, who make the exciting transition from our Professional Advisory Group to the Board of Directors.

Highlights of the Year: Bowl Lotta Love

A standout highlight of FY26 was launching Bowl Lotta Love – a breakfast box program originally conceived by a 7-year-old changemaker. Sparked by our Child and Youth Advisory Group identifying classroom hunger, the program supported low ICSEA schools across Queensland. The initiative delivered direct relief so students arrived at school nourished and ready to learn, while teaching young people the joy of hands-on service.

Looking Ahead: Help Us Reach 150+ Schools

While we celebrated a surplus and introduced fee-for-service revenue to diversify our funding, the demand for our work continues to grow. Today, over 150 low ICSEA schools representing 83,000+ students remain on our waiting list for Bowl Lotta Love.

To every educator, partner, donor, and young changemaker who supported us this year – thank you. Together, we are proving that children don’t have to wait for the future to lead; they can transform communities right now.
