In November 2024, commonkind ran two whole year community service sessions at All Hallows’ School – a leading Catholic independent school for girls based in Brisbane.
The Sessions
We were honoured to be selected to run these sessions with the enthusiastic and engaged Year 5 and 6 students and staff.
In each of the sessions we provided education on and completed customised, developmentally appropriate activities to tackle three United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
SDG1. No Poverty
SDG2. Zero Hunger
SDG3. Good Health and Well-being
The Impact
Check out the image for the mammoth impact the school made in these sessions to support Australian students living in poverty, Australian families facing food insecurity and Australians experiencing homelessness.
Thank you to…
A huge thank you to all of the All Hallows’ families who generously donated 327kg of food for families in need this holiday period.
Finally, to all of the staff and students who planned, prepared and participated in these sessions, especially Claire Easton, Jodi Hayes and Kate Harvey, very many thanks for your time and energy.
The school community of All Hallows’ live and breathe their Sisters of Mercy values of service, justice and compassion through their Mercy in Action Programme. It was a joy to witness these values first-hand and see the hall buzzing with the energy of these student changemakers eager to make a difference during their school day.
Thank you All Hallows’ School, we’ll see you next year!
If your school would be interested in customised service sessions appropriate for the abilities of your students, we’d love to hear from you here.
