At the meeting, we reflected on a year of deep impact and shared purpose – and it was a bittersweet moment as Ester Willims CF GAICD stepped down as Chair of our Board.
From the very beginning, Ester has been instrumental in shaping our journey – helping guide commonkind from a start-up idea through to achieving our designated charity status. Her leadership, vision, and unwavering belief in our mission have laid the foundations for the impact we are delivering today.
While stepping back from governance, Ester will remain actively involved with commonkind as a volunteer, joined by her family in supporting our programs for young people. This continued commitment is a reflection of her deep belief in creating a kinder, more connected community through community service.
While we’ll deeply miss her leadership, her legacy of compassion and integrity will continue to shape who we are and what we do.
We’re also excited to welcome our new Board members – including our new Chair – all exceptional individuals appointed following a rigorous and extensive recruitment process to ensure we have the right skills, experience, and values to guide commonkind into its next chapter. Each brings unique strengths, deep community commitment, and a shared belief in the power of children and young people to drive positive change for Australia.
